National Zoo

This pass weekend we took a trip to the National Zoo in DC. Aunt Anna and Cousin Sophie came along too.

The first animals we saw were the gorillas. Here's Sophie on Anna's shoulders looking at the biggest male. He was really big. This picture doesn't due him justice. There was also a female with her new baby, very cute.

Here's Peter and Marie looking at the panda bear. Sorry the rest of the pictures will be the backs of children's heads because they were too interested in the animals to turn around for pictures.

A caterpillar Peter caught while we sat and ate lunch. Between Peter and Sophie I think they caught 6 caterpillars. We put some of them in an empty water bottle with leaves and a stick.

My favorite animal was the elephant. Her trainer was there having her perform tricks for us.

Peter really liked the hippo

Sophie's brother Spencer might be afraid of snakes, but she's not. Here Sophie and Peter are looking closely at an anaconda. Boy, is that a big snake.
