We went to MN this year for Christmas. We drove which was an adventure in itself. The kids didn't do too bad in the car as long as we kept the food and entertainment going. Where did the days of staring out the window go? We were in MN for 5 days. We stayed in Mankato the whole time. In the afternoon, on Christmas Day one of my best childhood friends Rachel stopped over for a visit. We joked how seeing each other on Christmas Day was just like old times. We both came from small local families so our family events were normally over with by midday on Christmas.
Here I'm trying to capture Marie and Mia hugging. Marie loved playing with Mia.
Marie in her new tutu and knee pads. She had her matching bike helmet on too, but I wasn't fast enough.
Peter and Thomas playing with thier super size Cars cars.
Thomas eating his pomegranate. He wasn't really into opening presents this year. He mostly just wanted to eat the contents of his stocking.
After Christmas Eve dinner Steve played Christmas carols for us as we sang along. Mia really liked it.
One day Steve took the older two ice skating. The rink was only about 1/3 it's normal size, but that was enough for Peter and Marie. It was a snowless Christmas, which was a little disappointing since the kids got sleds for Christmas. However, we had good time in Minnesota while having Virginia like weather.
