Busy Weekends

Every weekend this fall has been packed with fun. On October 13th, we went to Williamsburg because Janine and Chris were there. We walked around and picnicked.
The kids also climbed this really old tree.

Peter's 7th birthday party was on the 20th; football themed of course. Here's the pinata and ice cream cake.
Granny, my mom, was here for it. Steve and I were dressed as referees and she was the "coach". There were 12 boys who came. Everyone came that was invited. That never happens normally. Steve had them play soccer, badminton, and football, Peter's three favorite sports. The weather was perfect.
The score board says Peter 07 Joseph 00.
Every Saturday morning Peter has a flag football game at 9 am. He loves it. This past Saturday he made 2 touchdown passes as the quarterback for his team, the Beangals.

On October 27th, Peter and Marie's school had their fall festival. The animal show was our favorite part. If you look close you can see Thomas running from the old, slow tortoise.

 Marie wasn't afraid
Thomas was not afraid of the anaconda though.
Marie's kindergarten teacher, Ms. Smith,  had a face painting booth.

On Nov 1st, we went and checked out the Oyster Festival in Urbana, Va. We saw the parade, played in the kids area, and had a sampler platter from our friends, the McMinns. They own the Chesapeake Bay Oyster Company.  I had never had an oyster before. They aren't too bad. They taste like how I imagined the river they grow in tastes like. I liked the stew the best.

On Nov 2nd, our friend Nate Nye visited us. He was in DC taking a month long course on teaching medical students. He came to church with us and stayed until after dinner. It was nice to have some help during church. He watched the older ones for me when Joseph was hungry during sacrament meeting, and he co-taught the youth with Steve.  After church we just hung-out talking and eating. Nate also snapped a family picture for us. We may even use it for our Christmas card.

Thanks so much for letting Nate come by! He said our kids are so much alike, and he had a great time. Hopefully we will all cross paths sometime soon.
