Peter has a thyroglossal duct cyst. Apparently, it has always been there and we have just noticed it. They normally are detected between the ages of 2 and 10. My mom and Steve's mom pointed it out to us over Christmas. Most people don't even notice it. It developed while Peter developed in the womb. Peter's cyst is not infected and is not affecting the functioning of his thyroid. It will be removed surgically. I talked with the doctor's office today to set up the surgery date. It is scheduled for Friday April 25th. I'll find out the time the day before. Steve has that day off and the following weekend. Melinda, Steve's mom, is planning on coming down to help with Marie. Sibling aren't allowed at the hospital. It is an out-patient procedure normally, but since will live over an hour away from the children's hospital Peter will stay the night. Steve will probably end up being the one that stays the night with Peter in the hospital. I would like to too, but Marie will need me. The good news is that the doctor said children recover rather quickly from neck surgery and the scar should be minimal. If you'd like to know more about this type of cyst and surgery look at this website. http://www.childrenshospital.org/az/Site1744/mainpageS1744P0.html

Ick. Surgery is never fun. Ethan will be having his 3rd surgery in 3 years on April 9th. Children's hospitals are awesome, though, and they'll take really good care of him. They're always loaded up with treats, toys, and games.
Good luck Peter!
I wish your family (especially Peter), the best of luck. We will be praying for you.
